There are two common types of an FTP Proxy:
- Proxy server exchanges data with servers and clients via FTP (in this case, it’s better to work through the FTP client on your PC);
- Proxies work with the FTP server via the FTP protocol or browsers via НТТР or FTP (this option is better for browsers because HTTP is their “native” protocol. In addition, current HTTP proxies are capable of working with the FTP protocols.
When shifting from FTP to HTTP protocol, you will lose some useful FTP functions. That’s why customers prefer working with the FTP server only via the FTP protocol. In addition, in some cases you can use the FTP Gate to enable FTP operation in the standard HTTP proxy shell.
